After a commercial career in the graphic industry, Maï followed a three-year training in Visual Arts in 2001.

Since 2009 she has been making paintings in beeswax: encaustic. From time to time she feels the need to work with textiles and other materials, or to experiment with spatial work.

She followed masterclasses with French painters, internationally known for their abstract work, and workshops in painting, encaustic, monotype, ceramics, glass and spatial design. She was also part of the Open Atelier De Maandagschilders of Stichting TOON in Gorinchem, under the guidance of Arie Brinkman.
